In the stillness of the room
I sit.
I recently had a message from a friend
Needing prayer.
A loved one needing
Emergency surgery.
Comfort sought.
Prayer needed.
Fretting, worrying,
I know it well.
It brings to mind
the worry.
Of a father
lying ill.
It also brings to mind
A line
From the catechism
of Heidelberg.
What is your only comfort in life and in death?
That I belong body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.
We are not our own.
That's a comfort,
A surety and
A Knowing.
So fret I might
Worry I might.
Pray I will
Comforted I will be.
Knowing that I AM NOT
In this alone.
I have a faithful with me
Always at my side.
Belonging
I am comforted.

This is a five minute Friday post. the word prompt is brought to us by Miss Kate over at Five Minute Friday. What is Five Minute Friday? Well it's a party of a group of like
minded folks who gather on Friday to do a five minute free write around a
singular word. AND THEN (and this is the most important part) we take the time to offer up encouragement to
each other on this writing journey. It's fun, though it's not always
easy, but it is always good. Come join us won't you? You are always
welcome.
