Overcome, See It!

We shall we shall
We shall overcome
We shall we shall
We shall overcome....

I remember these words from Sunday school as a child.
I don't remember the rest of the song, but I do remember it was something to do with overcoming the stuff that happens in life through God's help.
Overcome, See It!

David
Used a stone
And his trust in God

Young man
Falling out of the window
Lived again

Elijah
Called out in Faith and Exhaustion
And Ravens came

Rachel cried
A prayer to God
A son was born to led the church

Daniel
Lion's Den
Prayer and life gained

Lydia
Paid Attention to Paul
Saved and became a Helper of God's people

Gideon
Tested the Lord
One of Israel's Judges

Elisha
Lifted his eyes
Saw angels gathered round

Overcomers
Depending on God
Amazement
Growth
Service
Change

Overcomers

This is a five minute Friday post. the word prompt is brought to us by Miss Kate over at Five Minute FridayWhat is Five Minute Friday?  Well it's a party of a group of like minded folks who gather on Friday to do a five minute free write around a singular word.  AND THEN (and this is the most important part) we take the time to offer up encouragement to each other on this writing journey.  It's fun, though it's not always easy, but it is always good.   Come join us won't you?  You are always welcome.

  1. Many good reminders that God overcomes a lot that we as humans see as the end. - Lori

  2. Love the list of Biblical overcomers, so well described!

    Was the song this?

    We shall overcome,
    we shall overcome,
    we shall overcome
    some
    day-ay
    soon.
    Deep in my heart,
    I do believe
    that we shall overcome,
    some
    day.

I'm so glad I stopped by again! I commented last night, but something must have happened . . . I was tired. ;)

Annette, I so appreciated this post. The many, many reminders God placed in His word—(once-) living examples of people who have overcome—fills me with hope. I need to remember these people the next time I feel overwhelmed with the things happening in my life.
