My Hope

What is your only hope in life and in death?

That we are not our own but belong, body and soul, both in life and death, to God and to our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Have you ever stopped to think about what this catechism question means?  What the answer means?

Our HOPE, our ONLY hope, lies in the hands of God and the actions of his son, Jesus Christ.  We belong to him.

He (as in the triune God) OWNS us.
We belong to him.

Not ourselves.
We aren't, ultimately, once we know the Lord God, responsible for ourselves.  We don't own ourselves, God does.  We belong to him.

Think about that.
Think about what it means to belong to someone so great he surpasses the universe.
And we.. we belong to him!!!

Not only in life, but also in death.
Not just our souls but also our bodies.
Everything, God doesn't leave a single thing out.

Doesn't that give you hope as well?   A hope that transcends the now?
