Hold, as from the Scripture

Hold, as from the Scripture.  Reading through these verses gives a better thought as to what the word HOLD means before the Lord. We are to hold fast to the Lord and his promises, as the Lord will hold fast to us.

You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear.  Deut. 10:20

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  Gen. 2:24

I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days. Job 27:4

The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.  Psalm 16:5

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. Psalm 91:14

Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matt 14:31

As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Luke 8:51

And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Acts 7:60

It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.  Phil 1:7

They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.  I Tim. 3:9

Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.  Rev. 19:10

  1. It is interesting to read several verses with that same word in it, one after the other. Gives pause and thought.
